June Snapshots

Well time is just flying by like crazy, isn't it? June was incredibly, incredibly busy. So busy that I have about 5 blog posts saved in my drafts that I didn't even get around to posting because I was so incredibly, incredibly busy. I'll get around to posting those eventually, but for now, here is a glimpse at how I spent my month:

  • I began going to a local yoga studio and let me just say it is top notch (even if it is quickly draining me of all my funds)
  • My lovely friend Natalie is expecting a little boy (any day now!) and Laura and I were so excited to attend her baby shower :)
  • My professors hosted a lovely little graduation dinner for all of this year's graduates! It was such a fun time and also lovely to catch up with my fellow classmates and past graduates.
  • Mike worked like a madperson on a local campaign, and I got to help him out for the last few days! Our candidate won and we had a crazy victory party woop woop.
  • I graduated!! Even though I've been done school since December (and done full time since last April), it was nice to make it official and walk that stage for my $40,000 piece of paper
  • So many of my dear friends and fam jam came to my graduation and it warmed my little old heart. I had to cut Mike out of this photo because he didn't fit but he hates being on this blog anyway.
  • My friend Sarah came to town and we had such a fun time together!
  • Mike and I had a cute and fun weekend date!
  • Laur and Amanda and I had a fun night with Amanda's kitty and Leland. Cute overload.
I can't believe it's July! This is my last month of work and my last full month before I move. I simply can't believe it. In other good news I found a place to live in September! So July will probably be full of planning and preparing for me. And hopefully a few more blog posts than what I've pulled out over the past month hahaha.

A Downtown Date

For what may be the very very first time ever in my two years working at Coles, I was hashtag BLESSED to get Friday-Sunday off without even requesting time off! I am certain I've worked every weekend that I haven't booked off. It was a summertime miracle.


What better way to celebrate than with a brand new outfit? I freaked out when I first saw these floral embroidered shorts and knew I simply had to have them. When I went back to Boathouse to buy them, they were on sale! Cha-ching. So I bought a loose tee and yet another kimono (also on sale) too. 


Mike and I ended up having a weekend of fun and adorable dates. On Saturday, we had a couples day at the spa (his anniversary gift to me), and then scuttled about downtown. We went to a few downtown shops, and also hit up Mill Market, a new staple in town. 


It was such a fun experience, and I loved seeing such a cool addition to our downtown. There were so many amazing local products and foods, and my favourite healthy/ organic restaurant Cafe Natura had a cute little booth set up. 

As much as I hate living in the Soo during the winter months, I love the way the whole city comes alive during the summer. There are actually a lot of great places and businesses and things to do in the Soo during the summer, and I love being able to remember that.

Apartment Wishlist: Kitchen

This is part II of my apartment wishlist series!

I've been obsessed with this cutlery set from Modcloth since I first laid eyes on it (I know I'm getting older because I become obsessed with things like cutlery sets). I am absolutely in love with the pretty mint, turquoise, and blue colour tones, and would love to scatter those shades all over a kitchen.

I've never been one to get excited about a kitchen, but I think all these pretty colours and items would do just that! I'm finding I really like rustic touches (like creative twists on mason jars and vintage-font labels) and pretty details. If I could own everything on this wishlist, I might actuslly be inspired to stick around in the kitchen and cook a thing or two ;)

Diploma for Sail, Nerves for Oars

Holy toleeto, I know I'm not the most frequent blogger to begin with, but it's been a while since my last post!

June has been an absolute whirlwind so far. I had an almost full week off last week, but there was no time for relaxing! I had a friend's baby shower, worked on a political campaign for a local candidate with Mike, celebrated (too hard) at a victory party for said candidate, had an English grad dinner with my profs and fellow students, went for a shopping + movie date with Sarah, had a big girls night with some dear friends, spent lots of time with my aunt while she was in town, and then on Saturday I had my grad convocation! Whewf. It was an insanely fun and busy week, and I wish I could have had time to blog about every little thing hehe.


This is the dress I wore for my grad ceremony. It's also the dress I wore last year for my vocal jury, a big scary successful moment of my undergrad! What goes around comes back around. JT baby.


I paired the dress with a simple pair of heels and belt. It's a busy enough dress to stand on its own, but I also wanted to be comfortable during the 3 hour ceremony and dinner afterwards! I love the classy feel of this dress, and the print is my favourite. Love dem florals.


I was originally unsure of whether I would attend my grad ceremony or not. I was scheduled to graduate last year, but there were complications with my credits since I was a transfer student! The majority of my friends and favourite classmates graduated last year so I was sad I couldn't graduate with them. This year's graduating class included a whopping total of 4 English students, and none of my professors were able to attend the ceremony.


BUT I had a lovely time with all those lovely English folks at the grad dinner my profs hosted for us a few days before! And they also gave us lovely personalized cards and gifts. It was so nice.


And the moral of the story: I was very glad I went, and I was grateful so many of my favourite people came to support me and like me enough to sit through all of those pointless speeches! My mom, aunt, Mike, Mike's mom, Laura, and Laur's mom all came to cheer me on and I just love those folks.


Next time I won't take so long to update I hope. Mostly because it requires me to talk too much ;)

Pizza and a Pint

Last Thursday, Mike and I headed to Loplops after work for a cute little date night! Faraway Neighbours were playing, and we also partook (partaked? I'm making up words again) in their weekly Pizza and a Pint Thursday! We got gourmet personal pizzas and a yummy pint of beer for 10 bones! I got the fig + walnut + goat cheese (NOM I'm drooling), and Mike ordered the pulled pork + crispy sweet potato. Altogether it was a lovely little evening :)


This is the first kimono I ever bought, which started my craze just one year ago. I am in love with the colour and lacy sleeves. I think it's still my favourite for sure, and I've worn this exact outfit quiiiiite a few times already. It's such an easy outfit to throw together and feel elegant in! I should probably think of some other ways to wear this pretty kimono though, people are gonna start thinkin this is my only outfit if I keep it up this way ;)

I've had a pretty productive June thus far, with lots of yummy healthy meals, and yoga classes, and runs. Also hangin out with frands and watching season 2 of Orange is the New Black. And I only have a two day work week this week! I have lots of fun and busy days ahead of me. I'm so looking forward to lots of time off but I have a feeling I will be upset about it come my next paycheck ;) oh well, YOLO as all the kids say these days.

June Goals


I feel like I haven't really had any chance to think about what I want to do and accomplish in June! This month has just jumped right in on me so I'll probably just be doing more of the same from last month.

  • I've signed up at a yoga studio in our city and I've fallen in love! I want to go to classes at least once or twice a week.
  • Also continue walking & running & biking up a storm. I love how motivated I am to be active in the summer!
  • Continue cooking healthy recipes at home and packing my lunches for work.
  • Keep working on my closet overhaul, and clean out as many clothes as I can! And then make some moneys from selling them all.
  • If I could find an apartment for September that would be really, really awesome.
