I'm Still Alive

What's this? An outfit post for the first time in two weeks? Could it be true? Yes folks, it is true. The worst blogger in history is making an appearance. Lately I have been so busy with school and work that this little blog has taken a seat on the back burner. I really love blogging, and it's a fun hobby, and it's nice to have some sort of use for my outfits. But when you start a blog, no one tells you that it's actually a lot of work and it can get pretty time-consuming. This month especially, it's felt like a lot of work for little reward. And by reward, I don't mean recognition for my corner of the internet. I just haven't been satisfied with any of my outfits or pictures or the way anything looks. It has gotten really frustrating to not have the blog I can picture in my head. And I know this is all pointless silliness and there are more important things to worry about. But I'm a perfectionist and an overthinker, and that applies to my little blog as well. So anyway, I'm just hoping to stop overthinking everything, and just have fun with my blog, documenting outfits and memories and whatnot, cause that was the whole point in the first place! Also. I'm observing an icicle in that second picture. Don't mind me.

I took these photos a little while ago. Note the excessive snow contrasting with the bright sunshine. March is being a huge tease, as per usual, but finally things are heating up a little bit and the snow is beginning to melt. I actually went for a walk the other day and didn't have to wear a jacket!! :O Spring may actually be here! Mind you, I have said that several times this month and it doesn't seem to be quite true quite yet. Sigh.

What are all of your plans for Easter? I hope you all have a lovely weekend full of Easter eggs and bunnies!!

A Springtime Playlist

I have been such an awful blogger lately. But I've been prioritizing and being a good student so I suppose that's a good thing. We're finally nearing the end of the semester and I can just smell freedom! I can also smell Spring but it hasn't seemed to arrive yet. There is still snow falling almost every day, and I actually can't believe how snowy it is for the first week of Spring. The occasional sunny day is a huge tease. Winter is so rude to us in Northern Ontario.

Anyway, this is a playlist for Spring. Or at least hoping Spring comes soon. And I suppose just hoping for good stuff in general. The title also references a particularly hilarious episode from The Office sooo... I mean what else can ya ask for.

Professional Bows

Earlier this week, Mike and I went to a fancy little political event to meet Bob Rae. Mike is definitely the political pirate in this couple (I can be pretty clueless about this kind of thing) but it was still a cool experience. At the event, Bob was making rounds and meeting everyone, and when he came up to talk to us, the news camera crews just SWARMED us. Most likely because we were young people at a political event. It was SO intimidating, especially since I am already super super awkward around celebrities and important people and whatnot. So embarrassing. But we watched the news later and there was a clip of Mike talking to Bob! I have such an important boyfriend hehe :)

So this is the type of outfit Angela picks out when she is strained for time and has to scurry off to a political event. I threw on the blazer for a bit of professionalism and such. But even when I'm dressed "professionally" I still manage to incorporate a quirky bow pattern. I look so serious in these pictures. I'm not actually this serious about everything, I promise. This is probably just my game face for meeting politicians.

On The Tracks

I seem to have taken a bit of an accidental hiatus from the blogosphere this past week! Things have been busy and whatnot, and they're about to get even busier. Ugh. I have an insane amount of work to do for next week, lots of presentations and tests and assignments and essays, I have important plans for the weekend, PLUS I've still been working 30 hours a week. Let's see if I survive to tell you how it is! Sigh.

I wore this outfit last week to school. I love this tunic and wear it very often, but if I'm real with y'all, I don't love this outfit! I really like this cardigan, and thought the olive green was a pretty colour with the black and white, but it's just too short for this top, wah. Plus, one the boots from my absolute favourite pair (worn here, here, here, and here) broke in a major way last week. It was heart breaking. I'm probably going to go get them repaired, but I just know it's going to be sooo expensive for my poor student budget! I think they're worth it though, considering I wear those boots ALL the time and I can't imagine my life without them *tear*. Anyway, since my boot broke, I was forced to wear a different pair with this outfit! I still really like these boots but they just don't seem to look right, ya know? It's just not the same. Sigh.

I've been really run down and worn out these days! I'm stretching myself too thin, constantly going from school to work and back again. What with trying to keep up with homework, music lessons, some stressful situations at home, and attempting to maintain a social life, I haven't made much time for sleep! Classic student life, eh guys? Ah well, the school year is over soon, and then I can fully devote myself to my life as a bookstore employee, hahaha. Sigh.

It's starting to seem pretty ironic that this depressing/stressful post also involves train tracks. Maybe I should have just laid down right there on the tracks, AMIRITE? Just kidding. Suicide is not the answer (but dropping out of school might be).

Copy Cat

Hello friends! I'm currently sitting on my bed, continuously telling myself that I will start my homework, like, right after I do this random thing first. I seriously have had nooo motivation this school year and it's so brutal. I had such a successful year last year, and I was so motivated and organized. I miss that feeling. But my classes are just not quite as awesome this year, and I'm getting lazier and lazier. I just can't make myself care about Contemporary Canadian Drama. I just can't.

This outfit is completely inspired by (*cough cough* stolen from) Tieka of Selective Potential. When I first saw this look, and then realized I owned many similar items, I knew I had to try this outfit out immediately. I actually absolutely love everything this girl wears, and she has been one of my biggest style/ blog inspirations for years! I'm sure you're all already fans of Tieka's, but if you're not familiar with her blog, go check it out NOW! She's the greatest!

Upon reflection, this outfit actually felt pretty 90's grunge-ish. What with the mini dress and ankle boots and loose top. So that's fun. I'm actually really glad that I bought this dress from GoJane! It's so versatile and I'm excited to wear it into the warmer seasons :) It also has a fun kind-of-open back, with enough fabric to cover a bra. BONUS. That never works out for me. Also when I wore this outfit to school, my voice instructor told me I looked very "Spring-y." YAHOO! I feel Spring-y! I honestly can't explain how much happier the sun makes me! Must be the end of my seasonal affective disorder ;)

So anyway. The only things I've managed to accomplish so far this week were spending quality time with my favourite people (very important), and catching up on ma shows (also important but slightly less so). I really need to get my butt in gear. So here I go. Starting some assignments. Reading some contemporary Canadian plays. Any second now. I promise. Aannyy second.

March Wishlist

Well guys, I've caught it. I have Spring Fever. All I can think of is warm weather and fresh green grass (I MISS GRASS) and school winding down. And in preparation for Spring, I want to buy lots of bright colours, florals, blouses, and pretty skirts. I really love these denims shorts from American Eagle. I'm really picky about shorts, but I love the wash and style of these. Maybe I'll wear them with tights underneath until the weather warms up a little bit? I've never worn shorts like that but I always love when other people do. I also love the versatility of the denim shirt dress. I actually already own the floral phone case, but the paint has chipped away and I want to replace it. This would be the third time I buy this case... so it's obviously not the highest quality. But I LOVE the print, and for $15 you really can't expect it to be a high quality case anyway. I also already own this ship necklace, but I haven't been able to find it for months and I'm really starting to think it's gone forever. I want to make a little order of just jewelry on Modcloth, because they really have the cutest things! My jewelry collection needs replenishment. Anyway I need to stop rambling about things I want to buy. Especially considering I am EXTREMELY broke and won't be able to buy any of this anyway! Sigh. This took a depressing turn.

Middle of Nowhere

Yahoo!! It's March! The days are finally getting a little warmer and sunnier and longer and I couldn't be happier! Of course, since my life consists mostly of school and work, I probably won't be seeing the sun much anyway. At least my drives back and forth from home with be slightly less depressing :D And at least this means summer is in the near future!!

I wore this outfit earlier in the week, for a day full of school. This is an outfit I wear pretty often to school since it's so simple! I took these pictures quite literally in the middle of nowhere. I was driving around the outskirts of my city, near the airport, and came to this dead end on a random side road. There were giant trucks parked in the middle of a snowy lot, that mysterious tower, and a random set of quirky-looking mailboxes. So I mean why NOT take pictures here?

Life has been so busy lately that I hardly have time to think. It's getting to be SUPER stressful, and graduation is looking better and better from here. Today was a particularly stressful day at work, and tomorrow the stress will probably continue. On the bright side, Em, Mark, Mike and I went across the river for another delish meal at the Palace! It was so delicious but we all left feelings absolutely stuffed and disgusting. So worth it though.
